Hello and welcome to Untold Morsels

I’m Katy, a Gen X Melburnian (Australian) who lives in the best city in the world, Melbourne!, with my husband and twin pre-schoolers. We recently returned to Australia having lived in the UK for 3 and a half years of fun and travel in Europe.

Untold Morsels is where we share travel experiences and memories from our trips around the world, hoping to inspire you to take adventures of your own.

Here you will find articles about cultural and slow travel experiences with a focus on my passions for food, wine, history and art and design.

If you share my love of travel to Italy you can also find articles on our new site Untold Italy

WHY WE TRAVEL

For me, travel is not just about the destination. It is about sharing experiences with the people I care about the most.

Shortly after the birth of my twins I had a conversation with a friend who works with people during the last days of their lives. He said, “people preparing to leave this world never talk about the jobs they did, the cars they drove or the things they had, they simply talk about the time they spent with the people they love.”

His words have stayed with me ever since.

About Untold Morsels

OUr travel style

Our travel style has changed over the years and depends on the circumstances. As a family we travel at a much slower pace than we did before children. And while I thought that would be frustrating, it’s actually a welcome change. We now linger longer over meals and slow our pace down to enjoy destinations for at least a few days.

We like to choose unique accommodation and explore cities and the countryside on foot. Our aim is to soak up as much as we can of the culture we are visiting and our first stop is usually a local market

Exploring this way we not only learn more about the world but we do it together, making memories along the way.

I also enjoy getting away with my partner and friends. On these occasions we explore gourmet and culinary experiences and take in depth cultural tours.

Of course living in Melbourne and London (two very different cities) provides a wealth of opportunity to discover centuries of history and art and to indulge our passion for fine dining.
